Pls, do not know how this happened!

Just received new computer with 750GB HD. Noticed, the OS Drive has 4 partitions, (1) 9GB Unallocated, (2) 32GB Recovery, (3) (?) GB (OS), and then (4) 39GB unallocated.

Am not experienced enough to 'tamper' with this since it is on the OS Drive. So, maybe there is or is not a way, other than reinstalling OS, to combine the unallocated 49GB into the OS partition. If not, can I combine these two unallocated into a basic partition.

Tried Partition Magic but cannot figure it out!

    Whodowhat,

I don't know all the details but basically you have to move the OS partition "down" so the unallocated space (49Gb) is all to the "right" of it. Then you can merge them.

You can't move/erase/resize an unallocated area because it's just emptyness anyway.

But my strong preference is to avoid the humongous C: drive with everything on it. I keep my C: crive for just the operating system, and all my own stuff in a separate partition (I use D: and E: for that). Most people would disagree with this, but I also strictly avoid using anything with "My" in it, prefering just to use directories.

You don't really want to mess with (2) 32GB Recovery, unless you have a backup copy of your OS.
