XP work around for HP 5200 scanjet

Does anyone know of a work around in XP Pro for an HP 5200 scanjet?
Hardware installed; hardware recognized; precision scan loads; scanjet makes noises as if it will scan; does not complete scan or load an image.
Scanjet is > six years old, worked fine under W2000 OS.
Searched drivers for it and found none for XP system.
Is there a driver set or registry setting which will free it to work?
Is there a software file which can be changed to allow it to work?

If nothing else, try using Win 2K or Windows NT drivers. I used to have an old Visioneer Scanner that didn't have any XP drivers available for it. I used the Win NT drivers and it worked great. If all else fails, you've got nothing to lose.

 

Hi Zander, I have a Visioneer scanner but don't have the NT drivers. Can you tell where to get them. My scanner is a OneTouch 5820 USB.
