I use the IE Tab on my FF and wanted to upgrade to the new version but have to uninstall the previous version.

I tried the conventional way thru the Add-On tab. No luck. Tried Safe Mode. No luck there either.

I Googled it and found a link on how to do it manually. No luck there. There seemed to be Registry keys but couldn't tell if one was for IE and the ID for IE was not a Registry string.

I've posted on the Mozilla site and also in a forum for the IE Tab. So far no response there.

It should not be that hard to uninstall an Add-On and there must be some procedure that will work?

I had no problem with my Vista PC and it is the XP that is the problem if that makes any difference.

    Thanks.

Any particular FF and IE Tab version? What happens when you do not succeed. There have been a few addons which do not have an uninstall button. Typically, I go to the Add/Remove, and look there. If not there, I go the folder where addons are located, and I delete the files. I have a Registry cleaner to complete the operation, but I have never had a problem with uninstalling, except for a couple of Microsoft addons. But, I can hit "disable ", and they do nothing.
I have IE Tab 1.5.x in FF3.5.x. That version does not work in FF3.6.x, where I have another version, IE Tab 2(for 3.6.x) v.2.12.21.3.

I just went and checked the XP computer. The Add-On is GONE. I do not know why because I re-boot and re-started FF many times. This last time I got so mad I just shut it off. Anyway it's gone, but when I try to install the latest version I continue to get the same error message. It appears to install but at the last minute I get a pop-up window stating that it could not be installed and that I should check the Error Console log. Error-203.

I did that and none of that made any sense to me.

I then went to the Mozilla site and attempted to install several versions that were compatible with the FF I use. ( 3.6.13.)

I don't know why the various versions but they're there. I originally was trying to install IE Plus 1.95 20100933. That's what I'm running on this Vista PC.

Have you ever run into that message about the Error Console?

I'm glad I am rid of the corrupt IE Tab but would like to install the latest version. Do you have any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Now there is another issue.

The old IE Tab is gone and after searching I went with version 2, rather than the one I had been trying. (1.95.20100933) since that seemed to be a problem.

While working with that I got a notice that there were 7 updates for different Add-On's. I clicked on Update and they seemed to go through their usual procedure but then I got a notice that none of them could be installed with a bunch of garage noted that I could not decipher.

I'm wondering if I should just try to uninstall FF all together and start from scratch?

There must be some other software that is causing the problem like maybe Java?

Not sure what to try at this point.

    Thanks.

Since addons are not integral part of the program (but they, sure, can foul it up), my suggestion is that you contact the developer of the version gives you problems.
Try this link. To my understanding the problem may be in the fact that your IETab is a bit more than IE Tab, so a more complex program than my version 2. I think that it contains AdBlock. So, uninstall AdBlock, if it is listed. My version 2 is a simple IE Tab, while yours is a Plus something.

    Westside,

Thanks to you I think I'm and running again.

I do not have Ad-Block but have several other Add-Ons that are similar so I disabled about 6 Add-On's and low and behold that apparently was what was causing the issue.

I've tested things again and all seems well.

All I needed was a hint and you provided that.

Thanks a lot and have a Happy New Year.:)

The one I was trying to install and finally got it installed is Version 1.95.20100933.

When the problem first became an issue I attempted to install another version. 2.12.21.1.

I read someplace that it might work Didn't!!

    But all is okay now.

actually, when I meant version, I didn't mean the version number, but rather which version of IE are you using. There are many, there's the original IE Tab, then there's coral ie tab, and now ie tab plus, and so forth. But since you've got it working, then what I'm saying is moot.

Sorry, I think it's Plus now. I did the Coral IE at one time.

This is the very first time I had much of a problem with Add-Ons.
