    I just reinstalled windows XP on my computer and it already has 80 GB used without me having put any files on the computer. I did a little research and I thought it might be 2 versions of windows XP installed on my computer. This is what my boot.ini file looks like

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

    HELP!!

    It's only showing the one installation but agreed you'd never use 80GB on a fresh install.

    Did you format the drive during installation?

    Yes, I did format the drive and I can't find anywhere on the computer where the 80GB might be used...

    Ok, let's start with completing your system details...

    Please complete your system details.

    And can you tell me how you reinstalled XP (eg from a recovery partition/disc or an actual XP disc)

    I installed an XP Pro Corporate Edition which is different from what I had previously installed. I think I had Windows XP Home Edition installed before.

    Wasn't quite what I asked but I'll assume a CD install ;)

    I'm still waiting for your system details, please follow the instructions from the previous link I posted (including downloading SIW and completing the hardware details).

    OK, how much free space are you seeing on your drive and I know it sounds like I'm being pernikity but the SP level of your OS would be useful as well.

    There is a reason for asking for all this information ;)

    For now I'll assume you'll upgrade to SP3 (if you haven't already done so) because it's approaching 4AM here and I need to get some sleep. I'll look in on this thread in the morning.

    Download Disk Usage v1.34

    Extract du.exe to your \Windows directory.

    Open a command prompt & run this command: cmd /c du -q -l 1 c:\>%temp%\$.$&notepad %temp%\$.$

    Copy/Paste the output in your next reply.

    Also check the 32Gb limit jumper setting on the drive (you may have been using a software overlay before which you don't need).

    Apologies for not getting back before, the BBS was down (at least for me anyway).
