Yes - the best source of instruction is your motherboard manual.

Looking through the manual for your motherboard there does not appear to be any means of backing up the BIOS on that motherboard.

This is unlike my Asus boards in which there is a facility to backup through Windows.

Your best option may be to download the latest BIOS and regard that as a backup.

    Hello back to you Pete.

gabieke: If you have a floppy drive you can probably make a disk incorporating the American Megatrends flashing utility and boot to that. You should then get an option to save your current BIOS Bin file. Save it and then exit the utility.

I could walk you through flashing an Award Bios with their utility but would suggest you do a little reading on flashing an AMI BIOS as you don't want to muck this up. Good Luck.

    ;)

    well I'm back .....
what I found or did : changed all cables ------ hdd ------ cd-rom ----- battery ----power suply ----- everything that wasn't fix on the motherboard
the joke is now playing for at least a year ( started at nov 2009 !! )
the pc went to the shop 2x whitout any solution
I have change the nec machine to a verry old one ( almost 11 year ) and a older screen (crt ) booting both machines , no problem , booting the tft screen oeps there we go ...... the tft screen must heating up ( stand up ) for 1/2 h , you don't beleve it
the bios was changing every day (date -time - boot secquence ) so I was thinkig about the bios ( virus or more ??)
so what I did learn : new is not always better
    this may be closed

    happy new year to all

This is a sure sign that you need to replace the battery on your motherboard.

With a new battery, the Bios should keep date and time correct. The bios may be corrupt so you should try to flash the bios to make it work. If this does not work then the motherboard is more than likely dead.

The only slim possibility is that it may be possible to replace the Bios chip, but this will need an expert. Getting a new chip may be a big problem.

    No problem:)
