I'm struggling to figure out whether this is an IE problem, or a Windows problem, but I thought I'd start here, since it affects IE.

    The basics:
    Vista
    IE 7

On our desktop we have three profiles set up - me, my husband, my son. The two of them use the desktop more than I (I'm on my laptop most often), so I don't get on the desktop much anymore.

Something has happened to their two profiles...or they have upgraded or added something each that has affected their profiles - but mine is fine.

My husband's IE homepage is Google.com. When he opens it, the image of Google is gone - it's just the Red X. When my son logs in to certain websites - say, Lego.com - he gets a few images, but most of it is not visible. When I log in, I get a totally different page.

Both of them have image load/view problems. I don't. What would affect just their two profiles, but not mine? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The first step I would take is to upgrade to IE 8 - IE 7 is far from secure and IE 9 is just around the corner. That aside ....
You will have to expand on that - is your Homepage set the same as that in the other 2 profiles?

It maybe that the profiles are corrupted - if you create a new profile does the issue remain?

To attempt to resolve the issue within IE 7 run it in no add-ons mode in each profile and see if the issue is resolved. If it is there is an add-on in each profile causing problems.

If you Reset IE in each profile does the issue remain?

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset.

Sorry - I guess I wasn't too clear. I mean to say that I'm not experiencing any of the problems the other two profiles have. When I open up IE to Google.com - I see the Google logo. The others don't.

I hadn't thought about upgrading to IE8 (only because I use my laptop with IE7 and I have software that's not compatible with the upgrade - so I don't think about it). I could try that.

I'll try your other suggestions first. How will "resetting" IE affect things like password saves, bookmarks, etc.?

    Such as?
    Covered here ....

How to reset Internet Explorer settings
Favourites are not mentioned, but to be on the safe side export them to a folder on your hard drive - you should keep a current backup of these as a matter of course alomng with all your other important data. They can be imported back if affected.

File > Export & Import and follow the dialogue boxes through.

Technically the software isn't installed on my laptop - I have several clients I work with and some of their software packages get messed up in different browsers, so I have to stay behind (also have to do this with Java) in order to get my work done.

Will have some fun today with the desktop. I'm wondering if I should try a different browser like Chrome, too.

    Fair comment :)

The choice of trialling a different browser is yours, of course, but my first choice would be Firefox for which there is a specific forum here.

Updated to IE, Updated Flash Player - all is well. (Decided to stick with IE rather than give my family a shock with a new view!)

    Thanks!
