Resolved genuine windows 7- says not genuine

    I bought a new acer laptop 10 months ago running windows 7. Today I switched it on and it told me the w7 was not genuine. It is.
    I tried typing in the 25 character key but was again told the same.
    Now i have only limited use. Help anybody?:(

    Did you get it from a Big Box Retailer?

    Guessing it's showing you a phone number to Microsoft...Give them a call.

    I have a Toshiba lap that did the same a couple of days ago. I did a restore prior to the last automated update and turned off automatic updates. All seems well - for now....

    I've seen that 2x on 2 computers after a Microsoft Security Essentials update and ignored it as ....

    Orb > right click Computer > Properties showed the install to be Genuine.

    From your post I'm guessing that you do not see that?

    Prob solved

    Initially I followed the on screen prompts to enter my key no. to verify authentification, but it still came back as unauthorised. so i went to computer, system properties, change product key, and typed in the same key no. and all was fine.
