Resolved No Fax Detected on HP M1522nf

I'm really pis$@#. I could send and receive faxes a-0k on my multi function printer. But then I had some problems of general printing on my local but shared printer and decided to reload the HP software. Big mistake!

I fixed the printing problems but now I can only send faxes but not receive, it says Incoming Fax for about 15 seconds (I can hear the sending fax in the next room "squealing" as it sends) but after about 15 seconds the display switches to "No Fax Detected ".

I've googled and HP'd lots of help sites but nothing seems to work. I reset all the HP defaults and tried all the various settings of Answer Mode (Automatic seems to work best).

Any other suggestions? (I'm on XP-Pro).

 

Did you look in Faxes in XP and see if there is something there?

Yes, in Control Panel there is an icon for the Printer as well as an icon for the Fax both for the M1522. The Test Print works fine for the printer but not for the Fax but sending a manual fax works great. It's only Rcvd that errors out???

 

It's solved. I had another, newer fax send me a successful fax. I don't know why the older one didn't work like it used to. It received mine ok but ng on my receiving it.
