    Hey folks;

I would like to make a Windows XP bootable Floppy Disk with CD Rom Support, all on 1 Floppy. Would someone post where I may find this?

    Thanks

    Boot disk for windows XP

How to Create a Windows Startup Disk for Windows XP??
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may have to remove the hidden, system, and read-only attributes from the files (Tools > Folder Options > View Tab).

Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk into the floppy drive.

From your C drive, copy the following files to the floppy disk:

    Boot.ini

    NTLDR

    Ntdetect.com

If bootsect.dos or Ntbootdd.sys are also located in the C drive, copy these files to the floppy disk also.

Remove the floppy disk when all copying is complete.

Now you have a boot disk to load Windows XP if the need arises.

    hi again,
You can try this as an alternative too...

1)Begin by placing a blank floppy disk into your floppy drive.

2)Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop until it opens.

3)Then gently click on the 3½ Floppy (A:) icon just enough until it becomes highlighted.

4)Then click on the word File, which is contained in your top tool bar area.

5)This will pull down a menu for you to now click on the word Format.

6)Place a check mark in the box next to Create an MS-DOS startup disk at the bottom of the screen.

7)Then click the Start button to begin creating your Startup Disk.

8)Windows will display a warning that Formatting erase all data or your disk. Click OK to continue.

9)Windows will then display a progress indicator bar denoting the status of your System Disk.

10)When the status bar reaches 100% your System Startup Disk will be complete.

11)Close the format complete window by clicking on OK at the bottom of the screen.

12)Then click on the Close button to close the Format 3½ Floppy(A:) window.

13)Real Knowledge strongly suggests that you store your Startup Disk in a safe location.

    Good luck

You can use a normal Win98 boot disk and it will load a generic driver for your cd-rom drive. You will not be able to see any NTFS formatted drives with it but you will be able to read any cd you insert in the bay.

Incidentally, the install cd for XP is bootable so if you merely change the boot sequence to D:, A:, C:, you can boot directly to it.

For viewing NTFS files while booted to DOS, I use NTFSDOS PRO but it isn't worth the huge price ($300) since there are other ways to do whatever you have in mind.

The XP CD also has a file in one of the folders from which you can make a set of (6) startup disks.

I believe the file is called MAKEBOOT.

    daj0kker,

I'm not surprised that you're still waiting. If you get one, jump all over it and patent the new operating system contained on it! It'll be quite valuable since nothing presently available can possibly do what you are asking and still fit on a "single" floppy.

Personally, I'd like to have one of those too. I'd like not only cd-rom support but to have the burner working too!

Two pounds of stuff just won't fit in that bag!

    Good luck in your quest.
