Neither MS or HP have a Photosmart 1215 Printer driver for Windows 7. I'm hoping someone has found a driver for a different printer that works.

    HP Photosmart 1215 PSC driver

I had a similar problem before HP came out with the driver for my printer and I used the driver that was built into Windows 7. I just checked and I found a driver for an HP Photosmart 1215 PSC. Here's a link to a web page with instructions on how to install the built in driver: http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-to-install-hp-printer-drivers-in.html

Where did you find that HP Photosmart 1215 PSC driver? I followed the instructions at the hpanswers link, which turned out to be the same thing I had already done. The computer finds the printer, but cannot find a driver for it.

Did you click on Windows Update as noted in that HP article? ...
I intalled a very old HP Deskjet 520 on 7 by following the Windows Update lead - further HP drivers were downloaded, including the one I was after.

You must be connected to the Internet when you hit the Windows Update button.

Well, first of all, it's a network printer on my home network I'm trying to use. When you choose Add a Network Printer instead of local printer, it searches out the printer then goes out to MS where it finds no driver. I never see a list of printers to choose from. I suppose I'll continue to dump my docs to a thumb drive & print them off the main computer. Frustrating.

I'm glad Pete C got involved because I didn't mention the update button, sorry I didn't. But more important you've got to click on install a Local Printer.
