So, I've got this new keyboard which feels great and looks great. But it doesn't have volume and mute keys that my old one had. I've tried Sharpkeys but it cannot (afaik) reassign multiple keys.

    I'm thinking:

Ctrl (or Alt) + F10 for VolDn, +F11 for VolUp, +F12 for Mute. Sort of like the Function keys on a notebook. Can this be done, through the registry or otherwise? I've browsed to Hkey_Local_Machine>System>CurrentControlSet>Control>Keyboard Layout but am then stuck (don't know what to do next).

    Please advise.

    Hi,

I've tried using the "Sound control" application, which works pretty OK. (As long as you only need to bind special keys for Sound settings. See link below:

A little more advanced choice could be the Auto Hotkey, don't have any guides for it but if you're interested i could write on. Link to the software:

Hi, sorry for the late response,

Currently I only need it for volume, although if possible it would be nice to have previous, next, play and pause track mappings so that I can control my music from within fullscreen apps such as games.

Another concern is software performance, I'm looking for memory footprint of 500k or below. If both fit the bill I'll try out Autohotkey tomorrow.
    Thanks alot aciid. :)

    Cheerio,
    Nicholas.

    Cheers :)

There seems to be an option for Winamp atleast, to handle next/prev songs etc. Its under the "Utilities and hotkeys "-tab.

I havn't used that function myself because I dont use Winamp, but you'll see if it works when you try ;)

I only use iTunes. My past 2 keyboards has multimedia keys and they worked fine with no fiddling of settings whatsoever. I'm just trying to make my current one emulate those keys, since Windows has already demonstrated it can detect them right away.

I'll try out the two software and see if they're good for my requirements. Thanks for your help.

    Cheerio,
    Nicholas.
