What does the "Starred" option do on the Thunderbird Menu Bar?

I clicked on it and all of my messages disappeared from view. I clicked on it again and they reappeared.

I tried the Mozilla site but understood nothing there.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

I checked out the link you noted but most of the posts were a couple of years old and the ones that weren't didn't provide much of anything. I did understand the concept but once again when I clicked on a message and then click the "Starred" tab all of the emails disappeared and reappeared when I re-clicked.

Since I didn't know what it did to begin with I am just going to delete that option and move on. I apparently didn't need it anyway.:)

Thanks for taking the time to help.

are you talking about the star button on the filter bar? If so, then some people want to mark some important messages by marking them with the star in the star column. So, when you click the filter star button, then only the Star messages will show. This is why all your messages disappeared, because you don't have anything marked with the star.

If you don't have the star column, then on the far right, after Subject, Date, etc, you will find something that looks like a bent arrow. Click on that and you can choose other columns, such as the Star one.

    Thanks.

You're right. I didn't have any starred so THAT "s why they disappeared.

At least I feel better about that.

    Thanks again.
