    Hi all,

I have Adobe Acrobat\Reader and I want to uninstall it and install FoxIt.

I've read about the brain damage people have had trying to completely uninstall Adobe so I thought I'd ask here as to which way would eradicate it from everywhere on my system including the registry.

I have "msicuu2.exe" that I got from MajorGeeks which is supposed to be useful.

So, do I use Add\Remove Programs first or msicuu first?

    Chris,

Use add remove programs first msicuu is only really usefull for stubborn programs that you mainly have to remove by hand. Don't be overly concerened about registry issues, they are not nearly as serious as they were with earliers os's.

    Hi wildfire,

Add\Remove took out most of it, but there was still about 8 places I had to manually delete. And, in the registry there's about 30 (or more) references to Adobe Acrobat & Reader; the rest of the Adobes are ShockWave stuff.

Now, I went to the Foxit page and found v.3.0 to 4.3. Alls I really want is to simply open a .PDF file on the extremely rare occasion when I have to; which is extremely rare.

    Recommendation?

Any particular reason why you're wary of 4.3? If not that's the one to go for. My real recommendation however is to install SP3 first you can't really go halfway as described in your specifications.

    Hi wildfire,
Nope! Just curious as to why there's a v.3 and if there's any problems running v.4?

So, 4.3 it is, then, now.

    Update

I finally got rid of all things Adobe (except for a couple of places in the registry that I wasn't sure of so I left them alone) and installed Foxit 4.3.

I rebooted, clicked on a .PDF file and, TADA(!) "” it opened!

I got exactly what I wanted: A small program without a lot of bloat that I could install on my D:\ partition to open .PDF files.

    Thanks.
