    Hello,
I have been trying to help a friend of mine with a problem she is having using Outlook Express.
When we open Outlook Express we do not get her tool bar that is normally there saying "Create Mail, Delete, Send/Receive, etc. "
We have gone to View, Layout and put a checkmark in the "Toolbar" and try to click "Customize" but this option will not open. Also when we hit Apply and OK, the toolbar still doesn't show up.

If we go up to Message, click "New Message" the toolbar comes up with "Send, Spelling, etc. "

We have searched the internet and was advised to RESet the Internet Explorer and we did by doing the following:
Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and click RESET INTERNET EXPLORER SETTINGS.

The toolbar still did not come back and when we check the toolbar to have it show, it doesn't work and when we close out of Outlook Express and re-open it and go to View, the toolbar is not checked again.

Any help you can give us with this problem will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Jean

This may not work as manually selecting should work
    But please try the following

    Go to the following link
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

    Scroll down to #300
Look on the right hand side of the page for
Enable or Disable the Outlook Express Toolbar
    click on Enable

Save the .vbs file to desktop
Then ensure that OE is closed, double click on oetoolbarrestore.vbs
You should get a prompt "The OE toolbar has been enabled "
Open OE and check to see if the toolbar is working normally

Thank you for being prompt in answering my request.

I will have to wait until Monday to go over to my friend's house to check out her computer. I'll be sure to let you know if this works after I try it.

Thanks again for helping to solve her problem.

Hi, I was finally able to get over and look at my friend's computer.
I did exactly what you said, downloaded the vbs file and ran it but it didn't help at all.

Do you have any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jeanne

Hi, I am trying to understand what they are talking about. I'm just not that experienced to mess with the registry. I'll try to look at it again later but I don't have time today.

    Hi,
I finally fixed the problem by creating a new identity with all of the same settings. I then moved all of the messages and addresses in the new identity. It seems to be working great now and my friend is happy that she has her toolbar showing again.

    Thanks for all your help.
