Can you detail the issues you are having otherwise we are just guessing :)

First step is to go into Device Manager and uninstall all USB controllers and root hubs and reboot - Windows will reinstall them - test.

Please give details of the USB devices you are having problems with and what the problems are.
Can you test the suspect devices on another PC.

I had a similar problem. The USB port my printer was connected to contiued to work, but none of the others could recognize a USB device when it was plugged in.

Does "Device Manager" come up blank? Mine did, and it wasn't until I got that working again that all the USB outlets came back. I found an old post with a registry edit that got it back.

ok wow, i haven't used xp in so long. i have forgotten how to get to the device manager. I have used multiple usb devices, and lately the one that i wish to use on this computer doesn't work. It is a Roxio capture card.

So, if you please, could you tell me how to get to the device manager.
