    Apparently some add-ons are slowing it down.

    Restart Firefox normally, disable all add-ons and start re-enabling them one at a time, restarting FF every time until you find the culprit.
    Main suspects - toolbars.

    If you don't have any other issues, I'll ark this thread as resolved.
    Let me know.

    well, there are only 2 add-ons is running on the background which is JRE. But there are a lot of unused plugins, so I've disabled them. Restarted Firefox, it runs faster. But the computer starts very slow, and I've to let it "cool down" for at least 15 mins!! A lot of desktop icons also appeared in the desktop which contains teacher's important files. As a conclusion, the computer is running slowly because of insufficient speed of Processor (700+ MHz), but it has 512 MB of ram which is enough.WinXP needs at least 1GHz and 512 MB of RAM to run happily...........

    Now the problem is, everytime I reply to this thread, the website redirects itself to advertisment page, and then it'll keep refreshing.

    It may be overheating.
    Download System Information for Windows (SIW free version)
    No installation required.

    After it scans your computer, navigate to Hardware>Sensors and post all info from there.

    ===============================================================

    It'll definitely slow down boot time. It's better to create some folders and pack some shortcuts there.

    =============================================================

    As for computer's hardware....not much we can do here beside adding some more RAM, but...is it worth it?

    ================================================================

    This, I don't like.

    Update MBAM, run it and let me know, if anything was found.

    Firefox slowness may be caused just by low computer's specs.

    Nothing there...

    I suggest, you uninstall FF completely, using this steps: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox and install fresh copy.
    See, if it'll cure redirection.
    Make sure, you won't miss any steps from the above manual.
