Microsoft security essentials automatically disables Defender since its a partial duplicate scanner.

Make sure you only have one AV program running at a time (I would suggest MSE). With more than one active you could get a few errors appearing.

Hi mauro. Microsoft Security Essentials is designed to replace Windows Defender. Having MSE installed will cause Windows Defender to be disabled. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, plus MSE will protect your computer much better than Windows Defender.

Also since you installed Avira and MSE you should uninstall one of those programs. You shouldn't have 2 AV's installed and running at the same time because they can cause conflicts with each other.

    Hey Mauro,
My opinion is that when you install an antivirus you will have to disable Win.Defender since you cannot have both of them run together.
To disable Win Defender, Go to
Control Panel > Locate WinDefender > Tools > Options > Uncheck- Real Time Protection
Remember to do this if you have installed a third party antivirus.
More details on WIN.Defender crash will be appreciated.

Xrozz, please note (for your information) as pointed out by Evan Omo and Steve R Jones, Windows Defender will automatically disable when MSE is installed, you do not have to do this manually.

I know that, but when you want to install other Antiviruses other than MSE, then you will have to do this. Unfortunately not everyone uses MSE. thats why i indicated "THIRD PARTY S/W "
