xp back ground colors

    my set up is compaq 1200 laptop, w/ windows xp system. recently in a fit of rabid generousity, i loaned my comp. to a half blind relative. now everything i do, no matter what, has a black background. i need to know how to return all colors in the system to the original, or default settings. can anyone help???

    Try Control Panel>Display>Themes tab (you can also get there by right clicking anywhere on the desktop and selecting Properties). In the drop down menu on the Themes tab, choose "Windows XP "...it's the default.

    And if your browser is the IE that shipped with the PC, you will also want to check the Accessibility settings in IE. Tools~internet options and there is a button at the bottom.
