Can anyone recomend a decnt set of speakers? My MoBo supports 7.1, but I don't need that many.I would like to have a seperate remote though. At the moment I have it run into a surround sound stereo....but I don't think I need all that. I do have a nice set of Cambridge Soundworks, but it takes a Spidf plug ( ??) , which is different than the plug on the back of my MoBo....tried to do a search for a way to make it work

You've got all the connectors you need on the back to run an ordinary 2 speaker system and up to 8 channel.

In Figure 5, you can see the motherboard rear panel with one shared keyboard or mouse PS/2 connector, coaxial SPDIF output, optical SPDIF output, eight USB 2.0 ports, two FireWire ports, two eSATA-300 ports (shared with USB 2.0 connectors), two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports (blue ports), and independent analog 7.1 audio outputs.

This was a spec sheet on your mobo. Neil.

Would a Media Center remote work for this? The optical output looks different on the MoBo versus the Cambridge Soundwoerks...one looks round and another is square.

You need to decide what port/system you plan to use. How many speakers you want and order accordingly. It's your choice really. You have the latest Premium Motherboard from Gigabyte and if you Google it - you will find Test specs which may guide you. Neil.

hawk22, very nice..but after building this system I can't afford :( . I have a Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 digital. I just need to figure out how to get it hooked to my MoBo correctly. I didn't a google search and was able to bring up a picture of the back. The Digital input looks different than the digital out on my MoBo though

Are your Cambridge Soundworks Speakers Computer Speakers or Home Theater Speakers.
You have 2 types of S/PDIF out connectors on your Motherboard.
1 - 9 Back Panel Connectors in your Manual.
You may have to look for an Adapter if needed.
