I realize this is an old topic, but i have tried all the regfixes (kelly's corner) and someone on here suggested reinstalling IE, but that makes no **** sense. Nothing seems to help, XP just merrily resets the folder back to whatever's first listed... I should add that this is in LIST view, which is helpful when you have a buttload of music files...

If anyone has had this problem and has a fix that works, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi slungshot, hope this will end your frustration. This link will show you how to change the file view settings and make them stick. Windows should remember the file view selected for any particular file but by default only up to 400, I guess you have much more than this. This article shows you how to change the limit up to a much higher number.

And this link shows how to edit the registry in more detail.

This should fix the problem but do please come back and we will try to think of something else if it fails. There could be a problem in your registry which we can help you fix.
