    Hello,

I would like to hear the opinions of people in the forum regarding the level of protection Microsoft Security Essentials can provide on a Windows 7 computer, as compared to "traditional" security suites such as Webroot, Symantec, McAfee, etc.

I've installed it on various in-laws' computers and it has worked well. These particular in-laws, running AVG free and one anti-spyware program, were calling me three and four times a year with malware infections. Since installing MSE about a year ago, they haven't had any malware problems.

I'm running it on XP Home, XP Pro, Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Home Premium without any problems.

My opinion is that Microsoft Security Essentials is the only way to go.
I'm using the beta version right now, maybe better under the hood (they say it is) but visually looks the same.
Not had one second of a problem.

Hi Harpo. I also have been using Microsoft Security Essentials on my computer as well as on other family and friends PC's for the past 6 months. MSE has never found any malware so far on the dozens of computers that I have it installed on so I would say it is better then the paid security programs that are out there.
