    Any known reason why I have to keep "repairing" various Folders to get the messages to appear?

    Using TB 3.1.4. Lately I have been having to Repair most of my folders to get them to show the emails received.

    For instance, the InBox is presently showing one unread message. But there are NO unread messages. If i repair the Inbox Folder, the new message will appear.

    I've had to do this with several of the other Folders. Is this a quirk with this version or what?

    Thanks.

    I have never seen this. It may have happened as you went from v.2 to v.3. Typically, in the old days, to straighten things out, I deleted the .msf file, with the program closed. Opened it, and the .msf file was recreated correctly.
    But, having, never, experienced this situation (I don't even know what Repair means), I am not sure. I am using both v.2.x and 3.1.4, each with its own profile.

    Well, nothing's working.

    I posted a message on one of the Mozilla forums, tried what was suggested, read several articles from Mozilla and am thinking about re-installing TB.

    I only recently discovered the repair option. If you right click a folder and go to Properties there is a repair button. Indicates that there are issues with the MSF files.

    Thanks.

    I've never had any luck using that function. To me, it doesn't work the way its supposed to. As someone else said, you need to close TB, and manually delete the .msf files. When you restart TB, then manually click on each folder that you deleted the .msf files from. That should fix things.

    Did that. It didn't help.

    Beats me what's going on.

    Thanks for the tips though.

    check your settings:

    -- under the View menu, make sure that View, Messages, All, is selected.

    -- under Tools, Account Settings, look under Server Settings, and make sure that automatically download messages is selected.

    -- Under account settings, look at disk space, and make sure that you're not deleting messages. Also, right click and select Properties, then Retention Policy and check those settings aswell.

    -- check your Filters -- under tools. Perhaps you have a filter that is removing them.

    -- Check your Junk contol settings: Tools, Options, Security, and the Junk tab. Make sure things aren't removed.

    What addons do you have? Maybe one of them is affecting your accounts.

    You said you took some advice from Mozilla forums? What forums? What suggestions did they give?

    Mozilla advice was to delete the MSF files which I did time and time again.

    But last night I started looking at different options and I think the problem was something I must have done because after one click everything is working okay.

    At the top of the mailbox are a couple of arrows which changes the folders. I must have clicked on one of the options by mistake and now I've set it to 'All Folders ". Things seem to be working again.

    Hope you understand this.

    yes, I understood it, and I would never have thought of that, cause what you described did not sound like those folder options. Anyways, those little arrows have been very troublesome and annoying to some. One little slip up and you've got a whole new look. You can also slip up by clicking on the wrong thing from the View menu, then Folders. If you're interesting in getting rid of those recycling arrows, let me know and I'll tell you how to do it.

    Go ahead and tell me. I'll print the info off and think about it later.

    Thanks.

    put the following script into your userChrome.css file or into the Stylish addon:

    .folderview-cycler
    {display: none !important;}

    So, is it safe to assume that userChrome.css file is in my user profile?

    And then do I copy and paste ---.folderview-cycler {display: none !important;} into that folder?

    I'm just a little dumb on this stuff.

    ok, now I see what you're asking. First close TB. Then Yes, the file should be in the TB profile. If you don't find one, then you should find a file called userChrome-example.css. Just rename the file to userChrome.css. Now, open it and put in the script exactly:

    .folderview-cycler
    {display: none !important;}

    save it. Reopen TB, and the arrows will be gone.
