XP installer doesnt detect hard drive

hi im kinda new to reformatting but i formatted my hd and now when i try to install windows xp it says its not detecting my hard drive. im currently using 1 300 gig hd and 2 150s in raid strip. please help xD

 

You have to install drivers for your hdd controller chipset before Win XP would recognise it. There are 2 ways to go about it. One of the ways always works provided you have a floppy drive available. The second one may or may not.

1. Copy the drivers to a floppy. Your motherboard manual/cd would have the proper instructions/program to do it. When you are installing XP, press F6 [check as it has been ages since I installed Win XP with this method]. Select proper driver & WinXP should take over from there.

2. Change the mode from SATA to IDE Compatibility in BIOS if your BIOS supports it. After you have installed XP, you can change it back to SATA.

 

allright ill try changing it to ide compatibility. im on my laptop right now and it doesnt have a floppy so cant install drivers. but if ide compatibility mode doesnt work ill just head over to a freinds tmr and make a floppy

 

Where are you installing Win XP ? On 300 gig hdd ?
