    Anyone else run into this?

I downloaded the OE6 Update ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/q328676/default.asp ), ...the most covertly announced security patch since the Manhattan Project, I must say... selecting the one for IE6 (q328676). When I clicked on it to install, I get an error message stating I must have IE6 installed before I can apply the patch. Same deal if I try to run the patch from it's "current location ", without downloading first.

Problem is, I do have IE6 installed. - Ver 6.0.2800.1106 IC, update ver SP1 q313829.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe it's so secret you can't ever really install it .

IMPORTANT: Before you install the Cumulative Update for Outlook Express 6.0 SP1, install Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, says Uncle Bill.

Ah, sorry. Have a look it this. It seems to indicate that the patch was included with XP SP1 and IE SP1. On first glance, the articles appear to be a tad contradictory. I'll 'em read more thoroughly later!

Thanks for pointing that one out Welschjim. If it will load, I'm guessing it will cover the one that won't install on my system.

Ya gotta love these guys. The patch I reference is dated October 10 2002. Yours is dated October 30 2002. It's amazing how so many new security issues can arise in the third or fourth generation of a (relatively) simple email program over a recent twenty day period.

There is more going on here than meets the eye, me thinks. No real choice but to just keep applying them. At least they get them out. Now if they would only show up in the Windows Update or Office Update Scans!

I'll post back to say if it loads ok. Always leary of starting these things at 7:30 on a Saturday night

The patch you linked me to did, in fact, install without problem. I am assuming it covers the prior patch as well (which would not install.)

    Thanks for pointing it out.
