    Hi all,

I had the "Desktop Security" bug. Broni helped me fix it and he pronounced me Bug Free.

Howsomever, although it's not anywhere in my system, there is one place it does show up: When I right click Start | Properties | Taskbar | Customize
Show\Hide, Desktop Security shows up in the list.

How\where do I remove it? Or, is it even necessary to do so?

Also, when I got the "bug" I noticed an entry called HBJGJE. I've searched the Google and the only place it shows up is here when I posted. I've also found it in about a dozen places in the registry "” some were Legacy Drivers.

Would one of you mind doing a quick Registry Search and see if you have "HBJGJE" anywhere? Thanks.

Go to this Kelly's Korner page, scroll down to line 53 and in the left-hand column, click on "Remove Past Items From Notification Area" to download a small .vbs file.

Once you have it saved to the hard drive, run it according to the instructions at the top of the Kelly's Korner page.

I've used this little utility several times to clean up entries in the notification icon list.

I used to use the registry and task manager to get rid of them.

    Hi Miz,

I think I'm going to have to printout the Kelly's-Korner page because when I went there, I missed it. It cleaned out everything in the list "” including one that was active: But I was able to add it back and now it's perfect. Thank you, Miz.

    @ lj50,
The stuff in Show\Hide? Or the HBJGJE?

Has anyone found HBJGJE yet? I just typed it into the Google and this post was #1 on the list.

Don't worry, nobody will find it, as it's not a legit file ;)

Sorry, I forgot to warn you that it may remove some active icons. I found that those get added back after a reboot or two.

    Hi Arie,
So, it must be from the Desktop Security bug? If it is, why hasn't CCleaner, or JV16 found it?

There are a lot of Malware that use random file names to 'hide' themself...

You should know, having had yjyctfntssd.exe only a few months ago...

Since this has nothing to do with Windows XP, I'll move it to the General Security forum.

    Thanks, Arie.

p.s. That was my nephew's computer and I had only gotten it clean enough for the POP-UPs to stop before I was able to Broni-ize it and he took it back. I know there's still most of the bug in there, but it runs and he don't care.

I know! I also mentioned to him about keyloggers, rootkits, spambots, remote takeovers — all that good (bad) stuff.

Hopefully, none of this will occur. And if it does, it will require every ounce of strength I can muster to not say "I told you so! "

    Oh, well.
