Resolved WMP 10 won't autoplay and titles are missing

    Good chance, although this problem started at the end of a malware removal. But then again, jpChris said in that thread he doesn't want to run SP3, which means that he is running an un-patched, vulnerable system!

    Hi Arie,

    It's not like I'm totally unpatched; I've gone through (at my leisure) all the MS Security\HotFix\Patches on the Update site, read each one, and either downloaded or rejected all the ones that had no bearing on how I use my computer. I can't see bloating my system with stuff I don't need.

    You can not install any patches released after July of this year, as they require SP3. There have already been multiple fixes for issues that expose your system to Remote Code Execution.

    Third Times The Charm!

    First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions, links and help.

    Second, I solved the problem! How? I reinstalled WMP10 for the third time!!! :eek:

    I'd already tried re-installing, but no joy. And, as you all know, numerous trips to the Registry, Microsoft "Fix-It-Tool" and all the other stuff I tried just did not do any good.

    So, this morning while I was still "under the ether" (not awake yet) I thought, What the heck; try another install.

    Well, it worked. Now the Title\Artist and song titles are back! :D

    Hi Arie,

    The last time I visited the MS update site was May or June, and there wasn't anything "new" that applied to me.

    So, SP3 has more stuff that wasn't included on the MS SP2 list?
