OK, so I'm stumped everyone. Just built a new computer and it will not load BIOS, display anything on my computer monitor, make a beep, or do anything aside from powering up and then doing nothing while my monitor stays in standby mode.

I originally didn't get anything to seperate the mobo from the case, so I installed it that way first, and have since corrected it so it is sitting on standoffs and still have the same issue.

My specs SHOULD be on my profile.

I have tried booting it with just the 1 RAM strip and video card, the 30 second power button to bleed out remaining power, resetting the CMOS switch/removing the battery, & reseating the CPU Heat Sink.

Thee monitor is NOT new and works perfectly when connected to my Xbox via VGA. I also get no signal whether I use the video card or the onboard MoBo adapter.

PLEASE can anyone help? I'm completely lost on what to try here......

Bad up MOBO. Shorted out when you installed it with out any standoffs.

    That was my fear.

My other question while I have you, will my MoBO be OK with the Processor and RAM I ordered? Part of me fears I ordered a too powerful processor for the MoBO...

Your board is ok. Its a AM3 board & that supports your CPU & RAM.

    Alright, thanks everyone!

Last PC I built was before multi-core processors and Hypertransfer speeds and everything new :)

The board may NOT be okay. You totally shorted it out by not mounting it with standoffs. Permanent damage may have occurred to the motherboard, and anything connected to it, including the RAM and CPU.

You need to pull the board and place it on a non-conductive surface, like a bread board, or plain (not painted or labeled) cardboard, connect your PSU, CPU with HSF assembly (with proper layer of TIM - thermal interface material) and appropropriate graphics solution (on board or card) and 1 stick of RAM. Then boot. You should see the boot process and be able to get into the BIOS setup menu, or continue through the POST where it will halt when it cannot find a boot drive.

If you can do that, then, after verifying you have standoffs ONLY where there is a corresponding motherboard mounting hole (remember, cases support 1000s of boards), you can remount the board in the case. If you still cannot boot outside the case, then something was permanently damaged.

    Bill,

I didn't imply that his board is in ok condition. I only answered his question about compatibility with CPU & RAM.

I realize that. I think that the board still may be bad. Like you say, everything must match. I am guessing that his System Specs are the same thing as the board he is using by what he posted in his first post. Like I said just guessing.

I think rsinfo was talking about me. Either way, I agree, the board may be bad. But, I've seen it before where shorting out the board causes no permanent damage so neutropia may be lucky, and if so, go buy a lottery ticket. ;)
