Need help installing new Motherboard

hello all!

I have a brand new MSI KT400 motherboard with a new AMD XP2100 CPU. I'm going to install it tommorow on an existing computer using an ASUS K7 mobo.
~running WINXP btw
Any suggestions on preventative maintenance I should do other than loading drivers first?

Have you changed boards before? Installed CPUs onto boards with HS/Fan assemblies, etc?

Are you starting with a clean install on an empty HDD?

Back up all important data onto two to three locations! I usually back up important data files onto (1) an external HDD, (2) a CDRW, and if my HDD has multiple partitions, I (3) copy data onto a partition other than the boot or "C" partition.

Kindly privide more info. I will share the knowledge I have acquired building several systems over the years.
