Apparently, you just need to right click on the installation package and then select uninstall.

Thanks, but it is not showing the installation package in the viewed install updates. If it did I would not be asking this question. So what do I need to do now ????

Well, odd it's not there, but the only other way I can think of is to download the installer package again and save it to your desktop (do not install it) then try what I first suggested. Once done you can delete the installer.

:confused:Did you download the installer package again as I suggested? It won't be in the list if you saved it to your desktop.

You need to save the download to your desktop, then you can use it to uninstall the existing installation. Right click>uninstall.:)

The only other method I can think of is to do a system restore to a time before you installed IE9.

I've seen a lot of threads about this problem but not much in the way of solutions. Maybe one of the other members here has another solution.

In Vista's Start Search box type Appwiz.cpl and click [Enter].

In the left pane, click View installed updates to see list of installed updates. Locate the entry named Windows Internet Explorer 9.

I have found just one other possibility, with the download saved to your desktop, right click on it and select 'Restore Previous Versions'.

    Did you try system restore?

I have now read dozens of threads about this problem and time and time again the advice to uninstall is to look in 'installed updates'. Where there are replies the response is that IE9 does not appear in the list:confused:.

I am so glad I did not install it on my computer. I am sure we will get more people with this problem until Microsoft or somebody else can make an uninstaller.

Could there be something that is stopping it from appearing in the list of installed updates.

That is because most people are looking for the wrong thing. You'll:

    1. Have to select View installed updates
    2. Scroll down to the group Microsoft Windows
    3. Locate Windows Internet Explorer 9

It's beta software! You should not install beta software on a production machine!

And when you find IE9 - right click and select UNinstall.

OK, thanks for the help here, I've learned something I am sure will come up again:)

Chyana, can you now find it now.

Here are all the instructions together.

    1. In Vista's Start Search box type Appwiz.cpl and click [Enter].

    2. In the left pane, click View installed updates.

    3. Scroll down and click on Microsoft Windows

    4. Locate Windows Internet Explorer 9, right click and select uninstall.

Please let us know the outcome:)

    Those two are not correct.

    From my list of instructions:

If 'Microsoft Windows is not in the list as you scroll down then report back.

In this link the instructions are slightly different and use a different method of getting to installed updates. It also omits the need to find Microsoft Windows and goes straight for IE9.
