Cant determine the task to modify

Thankyou for posting this information, it is quite informative.

I am trying to have Windows Media Center awake the computer when a TV program is scheduled to record.

The additional microsoft info in the embeded URL describes media center programs that are scheduled. "updaterecordpath" seems that it might be the one to be modified (the scheduler said it last ran in 2008). I hesitate to modify it as it is not clear what the purpose of this task is! Any comment on this would be appreciated before I start messing with settings.

You need to create a new task not modify one.

The tasks that are in the scheduler by default should be left alone.

Sorry Sanssail, I put my last post in before I realised it was not you that put the previous post in announcing a successful outcome.

    How is it going.

Well, I have a bit of a sheepish feel, but have not totally resolved yet.

The sheepishness comes from assuming that widows media center would not wake a sleeping computer, in fact it does hooray.

The other thing that your post brought up was the desire to put it to sleep again automatically after the recording is finished. The reference article see below was not clear if activity caused by a scheduled program running was treated the same as activity caused by keyboard or mouse action? As indicated I changed the registry value from 1200 decimal to 37000 decimal again assuming that 1200 meant 120.0 seconds (since it was the default and not the 120 as indicated in the "sleep return timeout for unattended wake up article ") So will be trying some experiments
