    I have a Lenovo 0769AUU 3000 N200 with Vista Biz - updated

The laptop's monitor has taken to flickering (especially at startup). When I connect a remote monitor to it and run both monitors the remote does not flicker, only the LT's monitor. The display driver is up to date as is Vista.

I am suspecting that the LCD screen is going bad but wonder if there would be anything else that would be causing that issue?

    Any suggestions appreciated, thanks

As an external monitor works OK I would think that you have analysed the issue perfectly :)

One thought - does the laptop screen flicker regardless of the position of the screen - open fully, 3/4 open, etc. Thinking of a dodgy connection - not sure if the screen is flexibly wired to the mobo or via a rotating contact.

Good question Pete. I shall have to try it once I have it in hand. The user is just completing a course and cannot give it up for a few day.

I was thinking that there might be another part going like an Inverter. I have not been able to find any details about it though

I have had flickering on my Lenovo and a few others I have looked at. It was just a matter of right-clicking on the desktop and selecting the (Intel) Graphics setting. I changed the resolution, clicked Apply. After that, I went back, changed it back to the original resolution (clicked Apply) and the flickering ceased. Sounds simple, but that's what fixes it if it is the same problem.

There will be individual settings for the monitors there and mine has a function key (Fn + F7) for external monitors and projectors.

I tried updating the drivers but there was nothing newer. I took the screen apart and it seems it was a loose connection between the screen and the inverter. I pushed the plug in and have not had a problem since.

    Thanks guys, for the suggestions
