    I've recently updated to NS7 and I've noticed when printing any of my sent email messages that include attachments, the attachments do not show on the printed message - they do show up on my screen. The same is true in both W98SE and WINME. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or know of a workaround? Thanks!

    Hi TC,

    I am able to print an email, with an attachment, from my Sent folder. I run Windows 98SE, and use an HP 720C printer.

    Not sure what's going on with your problem. Let me see what I can find out for you, and I'll post back.

    Hi Ramona,

    Many thanks for the quick acknowledgement. Just to clarify, I am able to print my email messages. It is just that any attachments I might include in any email, does not show on the print out. This applies to both sent messages, as well as received messages w/attachments.

    This is a real concern for us because I do keep paper files of all our correspondence. I do appreciate your help.

    TC

    Hi TC,

    You're talking about the list of Attachments in the upper right hand corner of the email? If so, then that is another one of those Netscape 7 annoyances. It's a bug, and perhaps in future releases it will be fixed.

    What you can do is this:
    Click on View|Page Source
    Then highlight and copy (Ctrl+C) the contents of the email
    Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents into a text editor. For now this is the only way you can print Headers. This will include your attachment information as shown below:
    Text File:
    Content-Type: text/plain;
    name= "Decorder.txt "
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
    Content-Disposition: inline;
    filename= "Decorder.txt "
    Image File:
    Content-Type: image/gif;
    name= "buddies.gif "
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Disposition: inline;
    filename= "buddies.gif "

    If I was unclear, I am able print email with an image attachment (including the image) and also with a text file attachment (including the text).

    I hope I am understanding your problem.

    Thanks Ramona,

    You are indeed understanding my problem and I do appreciate your insight. It is so frustrating that things work in an older version of software, and when you upgrade, only to find out a simple thing such as this becomes a new bug. Go figure.....

    Your suggestion works, but it's too much of an extra process for each message with attachments, so I guess we'll have to revert back to NS Mail 4.79 until this is fixed.

    BTW, this BBS is a great resource and I find your feedback to everyone on it invaluable. Many thanks for the great advice!

    Ramona,

    Would it make any difference whether the attachements are viewed inline or not, with respect to printing?

    Hi tranquilo,

    Inline is the "View" default, and there is no other option. Bummer! You can, however "Forward" as Inline or Attachment.

    Ramona,

    I knew I had seen that somewhere, but couldn't remember where. It looks like there is no easy way, especially with attachements that are not plain text. However, if the attachement is plain text, you could just open the mail file (inbox - no extension, etc.) and print from there. But that is a poor workaround.
