    When I booted my PC today, I had two files that I didn't create nor save.:confused:

    The Properties of the files follow.

    First file:
    Name: 11-9-2010--22416--0
    Type of file: Text Document (.log)
    Opens with: Notepad
    Location: C:\users\--\Desktop
    Size: 393 bytes (393 bytes)
    Size on disk: 4.00KB (4096 bytes)
    Created: Saturday, ‎September ‎11, ‎2010, ‏‎10:04:16 PM
    Modified: Saturday, ‎September ‎11, ‎2010, ‏‎10:04:35 PM
    Accessed: Saturday, ‎September ‎11, ‎2010, ‏‎10:04:16 PM
    Under the Details Tab: Attributes: A

    Second file:
    Name: 11-9-2010--174253--0
    Type of file: Text Document (.log)
    Opens with: Notepad
    Location: C:\users\--\Desktop
    Size: 454 bytes (454 bytes)
    Size on disk: 4.00KB (4096 bytes)
    Created: Saturday, ‎September ‎11, ‎2010, ‏‎5:42:53 PM
    Modified: Saturday, ‎September ‎11, ‎2010, ‏‎5:43:12 PM
    Accessed: Saturday, ‎September ‎11, ‎2010, ‏‎5:42:53 PM
    Under the Details Tab: Attributes: A

    I haven't opened either of them and don't intend to. I am curious, however, what these files are and how they got on my desktop.

    Anyone know what these are?

    Thanks, Ed B

    They appear to be text files, open them with notepad and have a look.

    There is no risk if you use notepad.

    File content (typical).

    Thanks, I opened the files and this typical of the content -
    [MUSK] [6832][22:04:16]: WindowCloser::closeWindow was call
    [MUSK] [6832][22:04:16]: CWindowCloser::GetLocalizedName System Settings Change
    [MUSK] [6832][22:04:16]: CWindowCloser::GetLocalizedName musk::string System Settings Change
    [MUSK] [5836][22:04:17]: WindowCloser::closeWindow was call
    [MUSK] [7004][22:04:29]: CDeviceHandle::eek:pen - Failed to open \\.\G: (REMOVABLE) (error = 5)

    The best I can figure is these logs were created when I was trying to solve a problem getting the system to 'Safely remove' a usb thumb drive.

    So this issue seems to be of little significance.

    Best regards, Ed

    Just now noticed the emoticon! The file content matched that of the emoticon, so it was inserted automatically.
