As I work with NS 7 I'm noticing little annoyances that I don't have with IE5.5. It mainly involves Web based email like yahoo and hotmail.
In both these emails, you can turn on the Enhanced Enrichment features, such as bold, italics, font changes, emoticons, etc. With IE5 I can turn the features on, in NS7, the feature doesn't appear at ALL!

Now, I don't know if anybody else has this problem, if you do let me know, so I won't feel like a dummy.

I have to switch to IE5.5 to use these enhanced features.

Second annoyance: In the mail system, I am not able to attach a signature. When I go to Preferences/Mail&news group/Account settings/Attach Signature, it asks for a "file" as a signature.
    Quite different than Outlook.
Does anyone know how to get around this?

This is how the signature looks when I save it as Word document and attach it in NS 7 mail:

    Hi Sal_gal,

Those annoyances are simply features you haven't yet discovered. You can find all the answers in the Help|Help and Support Center.

About your HTML Mail. That feature is enabled in Edit|Mail & Newsgroup Settings|MailAccountName
Enable: Compose Messages in HTML Format

The Signature File must be in plain text format. Use NotePad to create the file. Save it anywhere on your HD. Then ensure that the path to the file is correct in Preferences|Mail & Newsgroups/MailAccountName

Let us know if you have more questions.

The reason that they don't display, is because Yahoo and Hotmail have built thier email sites to only show those enhanced features if you use IE. Anything else and you only get the basics. This is really no surprise with Hotmail because it is own by Microsoft and AOL/Netscape is a bitter rival. (for awhile, they completely disallowed access to browsers other than IE altogether). This is not Netscapes fault, but Microsofts and Yahoo.

The sig file can also be a simple html file also. I use this and have active links inside of it.

You can just open up Composer and create a simple little html file with your name, and other particulars and save it. Then use that file as your email sig.

    Brooks,

I wasn't aware this was possible, creating a Signature file using HTML??

Other than an active link, which can be done using plain text format, can you insert an image into the Signature file, using Composer?

I tried doing just that, enabling "Compose message in HTML ". Then I created a Signature using the Netscape Throbber then an active link to my site. Looked great, but when I sent it to myself, on receipt, only the name of the image was viewed.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you are saying.

I have no problem with small graphics files inserted this way, although I have not tried to make the graphic a link. It is just a static picture of our City Logo.

I will try it as a link and see what happens.

Well, I just made our city logo an active link in my HTML signature and it came through as a clickable link.

When using Composer to create the sig file, uncheck the URL is relative to page location on the image properties and check it in the Link properties.

    Brooks, thanks

I understand now that MS IE is incompatible with NS7. Will have to switch to IE 5.5 when I want to send enhanced mail.

    What a bummer!

You can always use an animated signature-put "animated signatures " in your search engine (I like google) then follow directions how to save the one you want--then when you create an e-mail go to insert-click on image and browse until you find the file you want. One thing I did find was that it doesn't animate in your composed e-mail but if you pull it up in your sent file afterwards it will be animated there and also in the one you sent to the other person.

you might run through setup agaiin and watch the properties. You could
    be turning off this feature.
