Inactive keyboard

    They have and I have the master password that will work regardless of what someone else set up.

    Fair enough, but now that you've given further information (laptop already damaged) my guess is a faulty motherboard (you ruled out the keypad by trying another) and since USB keyboards aren't getting you anywhere it's probably best just to cut your losses and consider replacing the laptop.

    Or clear the password protection so you can diagnose what else is wrong. Unfortunately there are no other options.

    That is probably correct, but breaking the screen does not usually affect the motherboard, at least in all the screen replacements that I have done I have never had a motherboard problem, and I have done many.

    Depends on how the screen was broken, obviously the laptop received a knock of some sort, the same knock could have damaged the board (even if it took a while to show symptoms).

    Anyway it does look like your stuck in a catch 22 situation here. :(

    Yup, clearing that password is the only way forward.
