When i email a word 2000 doc to my sister who is using word 97 sr2 she complains that it opens as a blank page. i've had similar reports from others.
after visiting ms website i believe the problem may be to do with different versions although its a bit confusing.
anyone know what my issue is about????

    thanks in advance

You need to File->Save As Word 97

What Steve said. You can open a Word 97 document in Word 2000, but not vice versa.

nij - Can't hurt to try! This happens to my users all the time. The fix suggested almost always works.

The issue is about the fact that Microsoft likes to improve upon the product with new versions. You have Word 2000 which is "better" than Word97 (meaning it has more features.). Word97 doesn't understand how to interpret and display Word 2000 documents, but that's OK because Word 2000 "speaks" Do the Files, Save As. Word 6.0 95 etc. should work fine, and you won't loose all that much formatting. It only really matters when you have used some fancy Word2000 formatting in the Doc. Word even allows you to preview what you'll loose, before you save it to the older version. Give it a try.
