    Hello,
I have a Toshiba MK4032GAX hard drive that I've been using as an external hard drive. I purchased it in a Rock Mobile Disk enclosure. Unfortunately the connection point in the Rock enclosure has lost some of it sauder points so I need a new one (Disc itself is in excellent condition) But I can't seem to find a rock enclosure.
My Question: What type of disc enclosure will this drive work with? Are there any specific numbers or codes I should be looking for. (On Ebay)
And: Do you have any tips or suggestions for prolonging the life of my HD and/or disc enclosure?
    Thanks!:)
    Kails

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Your Toshiba MK4032GAX ia a 2.5" hard drive as fitted to laptops and to portable external drives.

The connections to the drive are ATA (IDE) and any 2.5" external IDE enclosure will suffice.

I have a similar drive of 250Gb capacity which I fitted into an Icy Box enclosure and it works well and the build quality of the enclosure is good.

There is a selection of enclosures here.

Really all I would say in terms of operating the drive is to always use the Safely Remove Hardware icon to remove the drive - don't just unplug it!

If it helps, I would get one with an AC adapter, although they are not making many any more. They would draw a reasonable amount of power and it probably wouldn't make a difference until several other USB devices were attached.

The other option you will see is an extra USB connector that can supplement the power, I would also go for one of those before one that run through a single USB port.

This has an extra USB connector to supplement the power supply as Matt notes above.
