    Did anyone else receive a message appearing to be from WindowsBBS saying that there will be a removal of private messages soon? I got one yesterday and although it doesn't ask for any private information such as a password, it still didn't seem like it was actually from WindowsBBS. Makes me a little wary that someone might have retrieved my Email without my consent first.

    I did send a message using the "Contact Us" form, but, perhaps I should have posted it here from the start? Anyway, just thought I'd let people know about it.

    Hello MeMyselfandI,

    At the end of this month we will be deleting all Private Messages that are older than 1 year from your PM Inbox.

    If you have private messages that you want to save, please do so before the end of this month.

    You can save private messages by checking the box next to the message, and at the bottom of your private message box choose a format to download the message (XML, CSV and TEXT are offered).

    We have to take this step as the private message store on WindowsBBS has grown to well over 50MB in size.

    Thanks for understanding,

    WindowsBBS Administrator.

    I can confirm that the email is totaly legit -the WindowsBBS data base is becoming overloaded in certain areas as noted in the email.

    My apologies, I did not receive that Email. Thanks for replying to that, Arie.

    By the way, the reason I thought it was suspicious was because two other of my friends who use WindowsBBS never got that Email.

    Chances are that your friends had no PM's over a year old.

    private message store email

    Apologies for being a bit dim but i also received this email and was confused as i don't recall ever using WindowsBBS and don't know what private messages are. i was concernd that it meant any old emails in my Windows Mail box would be wiped! I'm worrying unnecessarily right?

    Private Messages are messages that members here can send to one another. Not sure how or why you got the email. Maybe the owner here can shed some light.

    I would need the email address you received the message on (don't post it here!), but you can be sure that you had an account here, otherwise you shouldn't have received the message.
