DOES ANYONE HAVE A VISIONEER 6100 SCANNER AND USING IT WITH XP? MY SCANNER DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING WITH XP. THE MESSAGE IS TO PLUG UP MY SCANNER AND HIT FINISH AFTER THE SCANNER HAS BEEN DETECTED. BUT IT IS PLUGGED UP AND I HAVE EVEN TRIED RESTARTING AND IT STILL DOESN'T RECOGNIZE IT. ARE THEY NOT COMPATIBLE?

she.white: I have a Visioneer 8100 scanner, and it doesn't work with Win XP, either. I went to the Visioneer Web site and downloaded a driver that's supposed to work with XP, but it didn't. Unrecognized, same as you're getting. The site identifies my scanner as a legacy device. Scanner is just a couple years old, too, and it's already useless with my new computer's OS. Ppffffftt!

If you ever find a solution, be sure to post it. There have been some others having the same problem.

I have a Visioneer 7600, just a couple years old, same problem, even with the new driver from Visioneer website. I've only had this new computer with XP for a couple of weeks and have had so many problems since I downloaded the SP1. My Lexmark printer couldn't be found, did everything under the sun, had to finally go buy a new one, I'm not going to buy a new scanner. I've been trying for almost a week to find a solution to this scanner problem.

    visioneer and xp

I agree I am not buying a scanner either. I have talked to other people who have had troubles with xp also. We are considering putting 98 back in. It seems to be a huge program also and takes longer to download things. We just formatted the hard drive so there is not that much **** on yet. My husband is trying one more thing and if it works, I will let you know. I am not impressed with xp yet. good luck finding a solution.

well, as of last night, my solution is i'm going to take an hours drive and take the machine and ALL of my 'stuff' to the man that made my computer. lucky for me i didn't buy it from one of the major companies. i've only had this thing for about 3 weeks!! i'll see if i can get some helpful info out of him to help someone here about the scanner issue.

    xp scanner thing

 we are 95 % sure we are going back to windows 98. our stuff is too old and we don't think it can handle xp. so until we get rich or win the lottery and can afford to buy a new system, it is not worth having xp. so proably this weekend, we will undo what it took 2 weeks to do. it's not that important to me to have the most updated windows but when we can buy and new computer, it will be a good one. i am interested in copying photos, making my own cards and crafts so i want one that can do all the update things. i am a novice but i like messing with the computer. good luck on your trip to the computer doc.
