Will program install after virus removal?

I was installing a free program recently when my Avast antivirus found a virus in it and quarantined it. I stopped the installation and haven't gone back to it. I'm just wondering if the program might now be damaged as a consequence? I'm reluctant to attempt another installation if there was any danger. Thanks.

 

If you want a second opinion VirusTotal and/or Jottis' malware scan.

If you also get a warning in either of these, just delete the file without thinking or doing anything more.

 

I've just looked at the folder for that program and discovered that it's empty. My antivirus program must have quarantined the entire contents.

 

Yup, you are lucky.

Now just remove the empty directory & go on with your life. There is no point in wasting time over a virus ridden program.
