My screen shuts down after a few minutes of running. I cannot get to the safe mode start up for windows. I visually examined the motherboard and it 'looks' OK.

    Specs: 96870-001 board model PX344UA

    Anyone know of a fix?
    Thanks

Hi and welcome to the WindowsBBS,

One place to start is working out if it is the screen/monitor or the graphics adapter that supplies the information to it.

If the screen shuts down the computer will still keep working. If the graphics shuts down, there will be no signal supplied to the screen. You need to find out which one shuts down, for example, try connecting the monitor to another computer.

If the monitor stops working, you can watch the LEDs on the computer to see if the system is still running.

Also try looking up your model at the HP website and checking the troubleshooting/FAQs there. The problem might not be due to Windows, HP modify things to suit themselves. HP have forums.

    Matt
