Hey I just tried burning on a CDRW disc for the first time and I get nothing but coasters with them. CDR's work great. Whats up with that?

    Thanks

Where are you trying play them and what brand do you use? I haven't used too many CDRW disks, but here's a couple things that I learned about burning disks. I have used Maxell disks that seem to work on certain players. Some of the older players/stereos will not play CDRW disks. The other thing is that most of my equipment will not even read CDR disks if the music is kept in MP3 format. I have to convert all my music to .wav files before burning a disk.

Without knowing the speed of your Iomega drive, I did some looking on the Iomega site. The one thing that kept showing up is formatting the disk before burning. Have you done this? If so, what is the speed of your drive? I'll do some more looking.

It is a 16x but the cd's are only as fast as 4x. I think maybe it might just be the goofy software that came with it, Iomega Hotburn.

    Thanks

I see on the Iomega site that you can download the Hotburn software. You may try downloading and installing again. I also checked the list of compatible disks and Memorex is not listed. That doesn't mean they won't work, maybe they haven't tested that brand yet. Have you tried another brand? I would suggest you take a look at the support page for your drive and see if you can find an answer there. Iomega 16x10x40 USB Home

If you still can't get it going, post back.

I chatted live with a tech rep from iomega and appearently they have trouble with Memoroex media too. It'll be a little while until I can get another brand, because no one in my town sells CDRW's

    Thanks

Glad to hear that you got to chat with somebody at Iomega about the problem. At least it doesn't sound like it's a drive problem. Post back with results when you try a different brand.
