    I'm confused

I'm confused, I've never had a reply to a thread that was not mine in the past. Only exception is when I tried to help out by responding to a survey. Are you telling me that I was suposed to get Pete's reply? Or are you telling me that if I post a new thread and someone responds to me, I will not get a notification email?

    It's quite simple :) .....
Once you have posted in a thread, regardless of whether or not you started the thread and you have 'email notification' enabled in your Profile, which you have, each time another post is made in that thread you will receive an email notification.

I've moved this off the original thread since it has nothing to do with the original poster's problem ;)

Why I thought the post was for me

Thank you Pete, the reason I emailed you stating this was not my thread is because I never received posts from threads when I tried to help someone, at least not that I remember; and I felt that since you tried to help me you were entitled to the courtesy of a reply. The only exception to that is when I tried to help out by participating in surveys. It's too bad that Arie didn't explain it to me the way you did because I really think he misunderstood the intentions of my posts, got angry with me, and set my account up to receive no posts unless I log in. This will make it much more difficult to use this forum. Now I will probably have to go to another forum, which is too bad because I like this one so much I became a contributing member. I would change it back, if I could figure out how to do it, but I suspect Arie is so angry he would change it back again. Take good care of yourself, and thank you for all your help in the past.

    WHAT???

I don't know how you come to that conclusion.

Eh? sorry, but you never 'receive' posts.... you log in and 'see' posts?

I'm just (and only) very confused with the terms you use....

    Responding to your confusion

Please tell me what terms I use that confuse you. The only email notifications I get are in response to my threads. I never receive email notifications unless I post a thread, or I try to help someone on their thread and they write back to thank me. The only exception to this is when I try to help out by responding to a survey. Now I understand why I have 7811 unread posts, it's because the system thinks I get email notifications of posts that I do not get. As for why I thought I angered you it's because you made the decision to cut off my email notifications without me requesting you to do so. Please reset my account so that I will receive email notifications, I would really appreciate it. Also I want to thank you for investing your time to volunteer as Administrator, I like this forum better than the others I have tried. If I have not answered all your questions please let me know how else I can help you, thanks.

Correct. You posted to a thread, and as a consequence you where (automatically) subscribed to the thread (if you didn't change the default settings).

Nope. The system thinks you have 7811 unread posts because you never used the function Mark Forums Read (see the User Guide).

I did no such thing. Why should I? I checked, and your account's Automatic Thread Subscription Mode is still set to Instant email notification.

Thanks, it is a collective effort together with some dedicated Moderators.
