I assume not much can be done about SPAMERS who use your email address in their "from" field. You can't block it because you will block ALL your "good" email. I have reported it to Yahoo a while back, now it's happening with my GMail address. This is really starting to "TICK" me off!!!

There's no copy of those emails in the sent folder.

Past advice I've received is to go to your email account and change your password.

Whem this happens your accounts have most likely NOT be compromised at all. Spammers harvest email addresses via trojans on peoples' computers and if your name is in THEIR address book then bingo, the spammer will use a script (bot) that sends bulk mail which randomly uses a harvested address in the From field.

In addition to someone's address book, spammer's trojans can also harvest email addresses from email folks have sitting in the various folders (like their Inbox) in their email client. All the more reason to ask your friends not to include you in any mass mailings. You never know where one will end up. It could easily be on some friend of a friend of a friend's infected computer. Once on a spammers list always on the list. And they sell the lists to other spammers.

Get a new email address. Even better is to have at least two. One for close family and friends and another for everyone else including web sites where you make purchases. I have four (each on a different ISP or source) but I only use two on a regular basis.
