Resolved Windows XP Service Pack 2 cannot install.

    I downloaded Windows Xp sp2 from the internet , I preceeded to install it, first it extracted the files then it continued to the setup wizard, i agreed to the terms, then it inspected mmy current configuration then this exact message popped up.


    Service Pack 2 Setup Error

    Windows XP Service Pack 2 cannot install.

    The product key used to install Microsoft Windows may not be valid. For more information about why you have received this error message, and steps you can take to resolve this issue visit ww.howtotell.com.


    after that installion cancelled, and i dont know what do.:confused:

    I think you probably have to go to Microsoft and download and install the latest .msi installer.

    Welcome to Windowsbbs. While you're at MS download SP3. It has all the necessary Security Patches and SP2 coverage has been discontinued by MS as of Last month. Cheers Neil.:D

    It tells you what to do: Go to http://www.howtotell.com

    You'll most likely have to get a valid license.

    arie, I went to the website howtotell and tried to validate my microsoft xp, however it said that my software did not pass the genuine validation. It said that the product key found in this computer is a volume license key (vlk) that has been blocked.

    is that bad?

    You'll have to buy a copy of Windows XP, the license you have is not valid.
