Describe your connection (including modem model), if you are on a LAN or stand-alone, etc.

And was the 2K install a fresh load or an upgrade of some sort? If so, from what?

If you have a Motorola SB4200 SURFboard Cable Modem, it can be run USB or ethernet (RJ-45 to network card).

If that is your device and if you by chance have it USB, I'd strongly suggest a change to a normal network card. W2K does support USB devices but doesn't always do well with networking thru USB.

If you have it connected to a NIC, there are some settings you can change that should give a speed increase.
