Hi, I have been playing games on Pogo.com for almost two years now. Just recently, when I try to access a game, I am getting a "Not enough memory available to play game" message. It doesn't always happen though. I often have to reboot to get it to work again. Though today, I just switched computer on, went straight into pogo and the same thing happened. By the way, my computer has 8GB free space. Please help.

Those are all excellent links jmatt. I've bookmarked almost all of them for future reference.

Can you give us some more system specs please? Have you done some basic housekeeping?
    Scandisk / Defrag
    Recent and updated virus scan
    Checked for Spyware
Unchecked all extra apps from running at start up through msconfig?

But they are a bit overwhelming!!

    Adele:
Generally a couple of causes for Out of Memory.

    1. Not enough space on your disk (check for free space available)
    2. System Resoures are low (too many things running in the background). After a fresh boot, open Explorer, Help > About and note what the System Resource Percentage is.
    3. You have manually set your swapfile parameters, and they are too low. Or, you have set a MAX on the swapfile that is too low.
    4. A cause, but unlikely, your swapfile is read only. Under \Windows, find Win386.swp, select it, then right mouse, properties. The Read only should not be selected.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have cleaned up my computer as much as I can. With 8gb of free space and over 70% resources, I reckon it must be a pogo problem. It hasn't happened again over the past few days, so hopefully it is sorted out. May I add what a wonderful site this is. I have always found the help I need here and will continue to use it in the future. Thanks again for the help. :)

If, after a fresh boot, your system resources are at 70%, there are still some stragglers that you can remove from startup.

This is an excellent reference site

    http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.htm
(Link corrected. Amazing what junk lives in your paste buffer!)

And if you need assistance or wish a second option,

    Do Start > run > msinfo32.

On the left side, select software environment and then Startup Programs.
    Then Edit > Select All
    Edit > Copy

Then paste the list back into this thread

You already have a fairly clean startup, and if you aren't experiencing Low Memory or Low Resources messages, you can just leave them alone.

But, if you wish, the following can also be unselected:

Regshave - "Part of the USB driver set for the Fuji Finepix series or digital cameras as it works fine without it as mentioned here

LoadQM - Part of MSN and not required

USBTA - System Tray access for the BeWAN Gazel 128 USB ISDN adapter (there is most likely an entry for it from Start > Programs if you need to access it)
