Cannot Download Pictures From Internet

Hello,
Cannot download pictures from intrnet.
When i click on File then Save(or save as) it seems as if nothing happens.But on opening My Documents i notice that in place of a picture there's a box with a picture of a sailing boat and strangly enough the title of the picture i've tried to download.
When i click on the sailing boat the text No PREVIEW AVAILABLE appears.
Would someone please help as i've tried both AOL and Microsoft and they have been really unhelpful.

Try emptying your internet cache.

Does this happen with only the AOL "browser ", or with IE, too?

Thanks for the reply. It seems the cache gets very messed up at times, what with the incomplete pages and myriad other files.
