Have you tried doing a system repair at all?

    Did you upload that file?

I cannot scan the file since Jotti's or virustotal require an internet connection. My laptop can't connect to the internet. :(
I'm using my PC at work for internet and a portable USB to transfer data and file from my PC to the Laptop.

my network adapter on my laptop is completely messed up. My Vista recovery CD can't seem to be able to re-install or fix the network adapter.

    Any suggestions?

Can you zip that file and then load it onto a flash drive to have it scanned from a pc that can connect?

I can't find that file anywhere. I also did a search for it and nothing comes up.

When you say you re-installed, are you saying you did a full re-format and install? If so and that did not fix it, the problem will lie somewhere else (like the router) and not the pc.

I just did a re-install, no re-format. I also tried plugging in the internet cable but still wouldn't detect internet. I brought it over to work and same issues as I was having at home.

Do I need to re-format and then re-installed?

I simply inserted the CD into the laptop and followed the instructions. It didn't mentioned anything about re-format.

    How do I re-format?

    Thx

A reformat is where you actually wipe the drive clean and then install Windows. You will lose all data on your pc when it is done.
What you actually did by the sound of it was a repair install.
Do you have the motherboard driver CD for your motherboard? It may be a network driver issue.
If you do not have the CD, you can download them from the motherboard manufacturers website.
