    Hi Robin,

Did you try deleting the *.msf files?

Close Netscape, then do a find for these files and delete them all.

Also, in the Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings|Outgoing Server (SMTP) check to see if "Use Secure Connection
(SSL) "... is set to "Never ".

    :D Thanks Ramona! problem solved....
At this point can you, or do you know if I can safely remove "Outlook Express" fro my Win98 SE system
It seems every piece of incoming mail I get loads itself into both.. "Netscape 7" also "Outlook express "...thereby fiilling up mailboxes....Both are fully protected with Norton Internet security...I feel that one mail box is enough::rolleyes:

    Hi Robin,

Glad to hear that your problem is solved! Yes, you can uninstall Outlook Express. However..... let me emphasize that it may very well cripple other programs, and it requires Registry edits. Unless you feel you are very experienced, then I wouldn't try to uninstall.

You need to go through the process of making Netscape your "Default" browser again. That's probably why you are receiving Mail in both OE and Netscape.

In Netscape: go to Edit | Preferences | Advanced | System. Ensure that http: and https: under protocols are checked. Also check the HTML under file types.

Then go to Start|Settings|Control Panel|Internet Options
    Click on the Programs tab
At the bottom of the window, disable:
Internet Explorer should check to see iwhether it is the default browser.

If that doesn't work, let us know.

    Ramona :D

    Hi RobinT,

Just wanted to add my 2 cents ;)

If you just want to stop downloading e-mail messages to both Outlook Express and Netscape 7 you can open Outlook Express and go to Tools, Accounts, then remove the Mail Account(s). You can also set up your different Mail accounts so that messages aren't downloaded automatically. I'm not on a machine right now that has Outlook Express installed here is a page with screenshots .
    http://www.wurd.com/eng/setup/emailclients/oe5_mailprop.htm

I'm assuming you still want Outlook Express installed, and open it from time to time, maybe to read Newsgroups?

Otherwise, why would you be downloading your e-mail to the OE mailbox? If you just don't open Outlook Express, nothing will be downloaded.

    :confused::cool:
